John Frey, MD, on “Professional Loneliness and Balint Groups”

Past President of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, former editor of Family Medicine, astute critical thinker and caring family physician, Dr. Frey is writing a book on the social history of doctors and communities in the last half of the 20th Century.

Matthew von Unwerth, PhD, on “Learning The Patient’s Idiom”

Dr. von Unwerth is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, Narrative Medicine instructor and author with a strong background in issues of diversity. He will speak to us regarding the critical role of learning to speak in the patient’s own idiom in creating a healing relationship.
