IBF - Who we are and what is our task?

The International Balint Federation (IBF) is a unifying platform for Balint societies worldwide, fostering collaboration and exchange among professionals dedicated to the understanding the relationship between the therapist, the patient, the illness and the group, aiming to enhance a respectful, human and ethical clinical practice. The IBF plays a central role in advancing research and promoting a thinking space where concepts, ideas, issues and dilemmas of Balint group leadership could be contemplated and elaborated with a group of internationally experienced group leaders, within the Balint community. By bringing together diverse perspectives and experiences, the IBF cultivates a global network where members can share insights, develop best practices, and uphold the ethical standards intrinsic to the Balint approach. Through its initiatives and conferences, the IBF continues to enrich the field of general practice and psychotherapy by championing empathy, understanding, and effective communication in healthcare settings across the globe.
